Electrolysis hair removal is a method of permanent hair removal that uses a small electric current to destroy the hair follicle, preventing future hair growth. It works by inserting a tiny probe (electrode) into the hair follicle and applying an electric current. This current either causes chemical reactions or heat that damages the follicle, making it unable to produce new hair. There are three main types of electrolysis: Galvanic Electrolysis: This method uses a direct current to create a chemical reaction in the hair follicle, producing lye (a caustic substance) that destroys the follicle. Thermolysis: This method uses an alternating current to generate heat, which destroys the hair follicle through thermal energy. Blend: A combination of both galvanic and thermolysis methods, utilizing the benefits of both chemical and heat energy. It is important to note that electrolysis typically requires multiple sessions to achieve permanent results. This is because hair grows in different cycles (growth, rest, shedding), and electrolysis can only target hair that is in the active growth phase (anagen). The number of sessions needed can vary, but it generally takes 6 to 12 treatments spaced a few weeks apart for optimal results, depending on the area and hair type. Additionally, there may be some discomfort during the treatment, as the electric current can cause a slight stinging or pinching sensation. However, most people find it tolerable, and numbing creams can be used to minimize discomfort. Afterward, some redness or swelling is normal, but this usually subsides within a few hours. Bottom Work I offer bottom work for all genders with a doctor’s note or medical referral. Bottom work is an up charge of $10 per/ hour that I work. In order to book for bottom work, feel free to reach out to me, or book a normal electrolysis service and just make a note of it in the service description provided.
